Use this article to add a food or supplement Hexis doesn't already have, so it's available every time you log it after that.
If something isn't in the Hexis database, you can add it yourself.
Where to start
You can begin from any of these:
Library, then the Foods tab, then Create New Food.
The + button on a meal, then Create Food.
Create New Food on a scan Results screen.
Step 1: Food Details
Choose Food or Supplement at the top. Use Supplement for gels, electrolyte tabs, vitamins, and similar products.
Enter a Name. This is required - use something you'd search for later.
Add a Brand if it has one. This is optional.
Add a photo if you'd like one. It makes the item easier to spot in a list.
Tap Continue.
Step 2: Serving Details
Set Single Serving Size - how much one serving actually is. This defaults to 100 g, so change it if your product is a 60 g bar or a 30 g scoop.
Set Default Number of Portions - what Hexis shows when you add the item to a meal.
Use Additional Portion Sizes to set up your own units, for example a tablespoon, a slice, or a scoop. Setting these once means you won't have to convert to grams later.
Tap Continue.
Step 3: Nutritional Information
Use the dropdown at the top to match how your label is written.
Enter Energy, Fat, Carbohydrates, and Protein - these are required. If those are all you have, you're finished.
Turn on Show Full Nutrient List to add more detail. The sections available are Macronutrients, Carbohydrate Components, Protein Breakdown, Amino Acids, Fats, Minerals, Vitamins, and Carotenoids. None of these are required.
Tap Complete.
Your food now appears in the Foods tab of your Library, marked as one of yours. See What is the Library in the Hexis app? for where else it will show up.
FAQs
Do I have to fill in the full nutrient list?
No. Energy, fat, carbohydrates, and protein are the only required fields. The full nutrient list is optional.
Can I edit a food I've created after saving it?
Open the food from the Foods tab in your Library to review or update its details.
What's the difference between Food and Supplement?
Supplement is intended for products like gels, electrolyte tabs, and vitamins. Choose whichever category best matches what you're adding - it doesn't change how the item is logged.
Can I request that a food be added to the main Hexis database?
Yes - if there's something in particular you'd like us to add, email us at [email protected] with the details and we'll take a look.
